Prince Edward Island is pretty much something right out of a storybook so it’s no wonder that it is indeed the perfect backdrop and inspiration for the famed fictional Anne of Green Gables written by L.M. Montgomery. Both visitors and locals will attest there is plenty of nature to admire from picturesque beaches such as Cavendish, known for its redstone cliffs and its annual summer music festival. Another must-see is Thunder Cove Beach which offers dramatic rock formations – ideal for a photoshoot. There are numerous hiking and biking trails for outdoor enthusiasts to explore at Prince Edward Island National Park. The park has seven different beaches and more than 30 miles of trails to enjoy. No wonder the wildlife calls this home!
Considered a true foodie island in Canada, there are amazing restaurants and cafes serving fresh seafood and shellfish such as lobster and mussels which are just part of what make the island so special. Additionally, PEI hosts three annual key festivals with focus on seafood, wine, and local foods (note – look for homemade jams and cheeses).
