The French Open (FrenchChampionnats Internationaux de France de Tennis), also called Roland-Garros (French: [ʁɔlɑ̃ ɡaʁos]), is a major tennis tournament held over two weeks between late May and early June at the Stade Roland-Garrosin Paris, France. The venue is named after the French aviator Roland Garros. It is the premier clay court tennis championship event in the world and the second of four annual Grand Slam tournaments,[4] the other three being the Australian OpenWimbledon and the US Open. The French Open is currently the only Grand Slam event held on clay, and it is the zenith of the spring clay court season. Because of the seven rounds needed for a championship, the slow-playing surface and the best-of-five-set men’s singles matches (without a tiebreak in the final set), the event is widely considered to be the most physically demanding tennis tournament in the world.[5][6]

In our American show, leading galleries from North America, Latin America, Europe, Asia, Australia, and Africa show significant work from the masters of Modern and contemporary art, as well as the new generation of emerging stars. Paintings, sculptures, installations, photographs, films, and editioned works of the highest quality are on display in the main exhibition hall.

Nicknamed ‘the art world Olympics,’ Art Basel is the oldest and most important contemporary art fair in the world. More than 300 leading galleries flock from all over the world to show works by some 4,000 artists, mostly emerging wavemakers, but always with a sprinkling of late-modern masterworks and iconic, double take-inducing pop pieces. Painting, sculpture, installations, photography, prints and videos are all present and correct, as are daily symposiums, films and artist lectures, and such is the success of the event each year sprouts some new sub-fair, such as Unlimited, a dedicated arena for XXXL artworks and Parcours, a selection of site-specific sculptures and installations around the city. The fair, which has spawned sister events in Miami and Hong Kong, is also an anthropologically fascinating ritual, with unfathomably rich patrons checking out each others’ couture and potential purchases – hang out around the stands of mega-galleries Michael Werner, Hauser & Wirth and Gagosian to catch this unbilled performance piece.

U.S. Golf Open @ North Carolina | United States

The United States Open Championship, commonly known as the U.S. Open, is the annual open national championship of golf in the United States. It is the third of the four major championships in golf, and is on the official schedule of both the PGA Tour and the European Tour. Since 1898 the competition has been 72 holes of stroke play (4 rounds on an 18-hole course), with the winner being the player with the lowest total number of strokes. It is staged by the United States Golf Association (USGA) in mid-June, scheduled so that, if there are no weather delays, the final round is played on the third Sunday, which is Father’s Day. The U.S. Open is staged at a variety of courses, set up in such a way that scoring is very difficult, with a premium placed on accurate driving. As of 2019 the U.S. Open awards a $12 million purse, the largest of all 4 major championships and second largest of all PGA Tour events (The Players Championship leads with $12.5 million).

Tour de France @ North Carolina | United States

The 2020 Tour de France looks set to be one for the pure climbers, with five mountain top finishes over the total distance of 3,460km.

>>> Tour de France 2019 route revealed: Five summit finishes to celebrate 100th anniversary of the yellow jersey

The race runs from Saturday June 26 to Sunday July 19 and will feature its usual 21 stages with two rest days after stages 10 and 15.

The Tour de France 2019 kicks off in Belgium, a return to foreign starts for the race after a home start in Vendée in 2018.

The opening two stages both start and finish in the city of Brussels, with the opening stage a likely bunch finish that should see a sprinter claim the first yellow jersey of the race.

The second stage is a 28km team time trial in the city, which will be the first stage that could see splits between the GC contenders.

The Tour starts in Belgium to celebrate the 50th anniversary of five-time winner Eddy Merckx’s first victory, while the entire race will celebrate the centenary of the maillot jaune, or yellow jersey.

From Brussels the race then heads southward into France with some sprint stages and into the Vosges Mountains. Here the riders will face their first test to the mountain-top finish of La Planche des Belles Filles.

Tough medium mountain stages await them on their way through the Massif Central, before they hit the Pyrenees for three high mountain stages and an individual time trial. On stage 14, the Tour de France will finish on the summit of the Col du Tourmalet, the most used climb in the history of the race.
