Golden Globe Awards

Golden Globe Award, any of the awards presented annually by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) in recognition of outstanding achievement in motion pictures and television during the previous year. Within the entertainment industry, the Golden Globes are considered second in importance both to the Academy Awards (for film) and to the Emmy Awards (for television), and the televised awards ceremony is a comparably lavish affair.

For each medium, Golden Globes are given in several categories. The film awards include those for best motion picture, best actor, and best actress, each separated into “drama” and “comedy or musical” divisions. Supporting acting performances, direction, screenwriting, music, animated films, and foreign-language films are also honoured. The television awards include those for drama series, comedy or musical series, miniseries or movies, as well as for acting performances in each genre or format. For all competitive awards, members of the HFPA cast ballots to determine a slate of nominees and then usually a single winner in each category. In most years, the Cecil B. DeMille Award, a prize for lifetime achievement, is also bestowed. Golden Globe winners receive a statuette consisting of a globe encircled by a strip of film.

Paris Fashion Week Haute Couture

Paris Fashion Week Haute Couture

The Federation coordinates and enhances Paris Fashion Week and its offshoots each year. At the earliest stages, the Federation liaises with the other capitals, such as Milan, London and New York, and the other shows in order to guarantee international coherence and to remain a true development lever to serve brands. The Federation provides logistical support to member and guest brands by negotiating showrooms, SACEM fees early on, and can, depending on the brand’s profile, offer financial support for shows (DEFI).

At the interface between houses and medias, the Federation draws up and transmits the list of accredited journalists and photographers each season. This list, which is available only to those brands present on the official calendar, constitutes an essential database for sending invitations to the different events. The Federation also accompanies journalists in their follow-up of collections and provides them with content that is essential for analysing the week in its entirety. Serving the 800 professional buyers, 2000 journalists and 400 photographers, the Federation sets up a dedicated workspace, the Paris Fashion Week Center. This information centre draws on a range of partners in order to facilitate and enhance everyone’s stay in Paris. The Federation gives impetus to these services according to needs and with the support of partners and of those registered in order to foster an expertise and innovation dynamic.

Sundance Film Festival

Every year in mid-January, a mass migration to Utah happens: Critics, filmmakers, industry people, and celebrity hunters head to the mountainous ski resort town Park City, about 30 miles from Salt Lake City, where the annual festival — a 10-day marathon of screenings, panels, talks, events, parties, and more — takes place.

Sundance is a lot of things: an exhibition for the most exciting independently produced films from the US and around the world; an early predictor of the year’s movie trends; a networking hub for filmmakers and other talent looking to break into the movie business; a forum for discussing issues and groundbreaking technologies that affect film and media; a place to spot celebrities in puffy jackets and furry boots; and a palate cleanser after the hectic fall movie season. A record 71,600 people attended the festival in 2017, which makes it by far the largest independent film festival in the United States.

Lauded by critics for its style, simplicity and genuine warmth, the Screen Actors Guild Awards® presented by SAG-AFTRA, which made its debut in 1995, has become one of the industry’s most prized honors. The only televised awards ceremony to exclusively honor performers, it presents thirteen awards for the outstanding performances of the year in film and television in a fast moving two hour show which airs live on TNT and TBS. The awards focus on both individual performances as well as on the work of the entire ensemble of a drama series and comedy series, and the cast of a motion picture. These honors are fundamental to the spirit of the Screen Actors Guild Awards because they recognize what all actors know – that acting is a collaborative art.
