Bali, Indonesia increasingly receives millions of visitors per year. It continues to inspire and entice travelers offering indulgence in nothing or something ranging from volcano treks to yoga, meditation, snorkeling, and surfing.
First there was the Four Seasons at Jimbaran Bay and Sayan and the St. Regis Bali Resort. Now guests can indulge in the brand new luxurious Capella Ubud where the over-the-top accommodations are comprised of individual tents. Note each luxury tent has its own name and theme. Expect teak floors and hand-carved Balinese doors and the best parts are the private saltwater pool, terrace, and indoor and outdoor bathrooms. There’s also the assorted dining experiences such as Mads’ Lounge which offers sustainable foods, Api Jiwa serves Asian, and The Camp Fire will be the space for fireside storytelling paired with hot chocolate and roasted marshmallows. Have we mentioned there will be afternoon tea along with a daily evening cocktail and canapé ritual? The boutique property is set to open in late July and is situated between rice paddies, the Wos River, and a lush rainforest.
In August Six Senses Uluwatu will open near one of the most famous temples, Pura Uluwatu. The wellness-focused property will include an organic garden, a mushroom hut, and bee hives. Note this is the only property that will have a Green Certification from the Indonesian government. Visitors can expect yoga classes, integrated wellness programming, and immersive experiences such as local martial arts classes, fishing, and blending potions.
Also on the hospitality radar is the 2020 opening of the Mandarin Oriental which will be located on the south coast Bukit peninsula. The property will be on a cliff with spectacular 180-degree views along with a secluded white-sand beach. There’s also Jumeirah Bali, coming in early 2019 to the south end of Jimbaran, overlooking the popular Dreamland Beach and adjacent to the exclusive New Kuta Golf Course. The resort will offer only villas.
A bit further north in the bohemian town of Canggu, COMO Uma Canggu is set to open and this property will include penthouses with rooftop pools. Its designs reflect a combo of modern Italian and Asian. During their stay, guests can also experience canoe expeditions, jungle trekking, and guided temple visits. Its COMO Shambhala Retreat spa (offering yoga, Pilates and personal training, too) showcases another highlight of the island: massage therapies and holistic healing.
